The Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) program provides an opportunity for families to receive state-funded assistance toward educational expenses at approved non-public schools, including Founders Christian School (FCS). Families are encouraged to review the information below to understand eligibility, benefits, and the application process.
What Is School Choice in Texas?

The Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) program is Texas’s new school choice initiative, established under Senate Bill 2 (89th Texas Legislature).

TEFA allows eligible families to receive state-funded financial assistance to support their child’s education at approved non-public schools. Because Founders Christian School is a private Christian school, families may apply for TEFA funds to help offset tuition and other approved educational expenses.
How TEFA Can Help Your Family

Tuition Support

• Most students may receive up to $10,000 per year
• Funds may be applied directly toward FCS tuition
• Makes Christ-centered education more accessible and affordable

Other Approved TEFA-Funded Educational Expenses

• School uniforms
• Approved curriculum materials and books
• Academic tutoring
How TEFA Differs from Voucher Programs

Education Savings Account (TEFA)
• Funds are placed in a state-managed account controlled by parents
• May be used for tuition and other approved educational expenses
• Parents track spending and submit required testing information

Traditional Voucher Programs
• Funds are sent directly to schools
• Typically limited to tuition only
• Oversight focuses primarily on schools
