What Is School Choice in Texas? The Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) program is Texas’s new school choice initiative, established under Senate Bill 2 (89th Texas Legislature). TEFA allows eligible families to receive state-funded financial assistance to support their child’s education at approved non-public schools. Because Founders Christian School is a private Christian school, families may apply for TEFA funds to help offset tuition and other approved educational expenses. |

Who Is Eligible to Apply? Students may apply if they: • Are a U.S. citizen or lawful resident, and • Are eligible to attend a Texas public school or open-enrollment charter Important: Texas law states that any Texas student may apply, including: • First-time kindergarten students • Current public school students • Current private school or homeschool students |

Application Timeline & Process • Application Window: February 4 – March 17, 2026 • Applications are submitted through a portal managed by Odyssey, the state’s certified education assistance organization (CEAO) Funding decisions are made after the application window closes. Funding is not first-come, first-served. If applications exceed available funds, awards will be made through a lottery system. |
