Quiz Bowl

Academic Team Competition – Best of Texas is a statewide academic competition that includes both private and public schools. Sudents compete in three rounds with awards presented in each round and for cumulative performance.

Quiz Bowl is a dynamic team academic competition that challenges students to test the breadth of their knowledge in a toss-up style question and answer format. Competing against teams from across the Houston area and around the state, Founders Christian School’s Quiz Bowl team encourages students to identify academic strengths and weaknesses and to work together collaboratively in the academic world’s version of a team sport.

**FCS Represented at Best of Texas Academic Competition**
Best of Texas is a statewide academic competition that includes both private and public schools. There are three rounds with awards in each round and for cumulative performance. The final round was held at the Baylor University campus in Waco, TX where several FCS students traveled to compete. Among the students who placed in rounds one and two are Brett Odom, Taylor Cook, Caterina Ballatori, and Cesar Flores.
At the TAPPS 1A State Academic competition, Cesar Flores placed 5th in Current Issues, Taylor Cook placed 2nd in Number Sense, and Brett Odom placed 6th in Ready Writing.
The cumulative results (round 1,2, and 3) of the Best of Texas Academic Competition are as follows:
Brett Odom - Top Overall Individual in Biology, Top 10th Grade Student in Biology, Top 10th Grade Student in Chemistry, 3rd place 10th Grade Student in Current Issues, 3rd place 10th Grade Student in Number Sense, and Top 10th Grade Student in Spelling
Taylor Cook - 2nd place 10th Grade Student in Chemistry
Caterina Ballatori - 2nd place 10th Grade Student in Literary Criticism
Overall, as a school we placed 3rd in Chemistry, 2nd in Spelling, and 2nd in Current Issues.
